Medical Grade Fever Screening

Medical grade thermal imaging since 2007

Spectron IR fever screening systems are typically used in a temperature controlled clinical setting as an adjudicative diagnostic tool. Our systems can quickly scan individuals for potential fever with high accuracy and minimal effort. Using Spectron IR’s FDA cleared system, you can easily get an individual’s temperature accurately with immediate temperature readouts. With a temperature threshold alarm activated, a hot area will turn red and an audible alarm will be sounded. Per FDA recommendations – Infrared systems should only be used to accurately measure the temperature of one subject at a time.

Spectron IR thermal imaging basic system

Our System

Spectron IR’s software was developed from the ground up with input from some of the leading experts in clinical thermology. Spectron IR systems aid in the detection of elevated body temperature (leading to possible fever) in any slow or fast paced environment. All systems include training, support and fever screening protocols. A separate protocol is included to hand out to employees so they know what to expect during the fever screening process. The software will automatically update when new updates are released and Spectron IR will send out a notification with instructions on how to acquire the update(s). Data logs are automatically compiled to keep track of all measurements as well as the high temp measurements in two separate logs; which are able to be viewed as an excel spreadsheet and graphed.

Medical Grade

Our medical infrared imaging systems with FDA 510k clearance is designed for fever screening with a narrow range of accuracy specific to human skin imaging. The camera’s uniformity accuracy is 0.1-0.2 degrees C. All of the systems Spectron IR offers are able to be used as a non-monitored system or monitored system. Our systems are able to be networked and/or from a cloud. The software used for fever screening is simple and intuitive providing a secure and safe imaging modality for feverish individuals.

Made in the US

Our systems are made in the US and ready to ship out from Southern Oregon. Cleared by the FDA since 2003 for sale in the United States and internationally with export clearance on IR devices. In most cases, Spectron IR customers can receive their system in less than 2 weeks from the purchase date.

Quickly scan more than 1200 people per hour using our system to check for feverish individuals. The software will display where the hottest spot is located and if the person’s temperature goes above the customizable threshold, the software will provide an audible alarm as well as having the screen turn red where the hottest temp is on the imaged body part. Spectron IR recommends fever screening the inner canthus of the eye for accuracy as this is the most stable and reliable area on the face.

high-resolution infrared

Spectron IR’s 640×480 high resolution medical grade infrared cameras are more accurate and sensitive for fever screening. Thus producing far less false negatives and false positives to ensure you are getting accurate results. Before arriving for your fever screening, important processes should be followed in order to improve the accuracy of the infrared screening system. Please read the following information and adhere to it as closely as possible.

  • Before being imaged, remove sunglasses and eyeglasses.
  • Each person should be positioned exactly the same for screening (probably using a bilateral foot placement diagram on the floor to make things faster and easier).
  • When being imaged, look straight into the camera lens. Nothing is emitted from the camera and it is 100% safe. The camera is only recording natural infrared signals that are already being emitted from the body.
  • Imaging should be performed 4-8 feet from the camera and the face should be centered in the image.
  • Do not rest your hand, forearm or other body parts on your face and forehead prior to being imaged.
  • If perspiring or persons experiencing hot flashes should be directed to a secondary screening location.
  • Do not apply wet hands to the face or forehead. Refrain from washing hands until after being imaged.
  • The Welch-Allyn digital thermometer would be the best to use for the secondary screening
